The years have gone by since you passed away.
There are so many things we never got to say.
My hair is gray now, my face weathered and worn.
The scar is still there from where my heart was torn.
I remember that day, the way you said goodbye,
Not with a word, but with a single tear you cried.
For it is by God's grace now I see,
Everything you left in that tear for me.
From the little girl who used to laugh and play,
To the beautiful woman you were on that day.
I touched your face and kissed you goodbye.
It was then I noticed the single tear that you had cried.
If I had only known before that day,
I would have never wiped that tear away.
So no matter where in heaven you may be,
I just want you to know,
How much that precious tear means to me.
