The last time I saw you,
I looked back as I was leaving.
Inside I was already grieving.
I was worried our time was through,
Life gets so busy, to make the journey and visit you.
As I turned and walked out the door,
tears filled my eyes more and more.
I think it was because I already knew,
it was my final goodbye to you.
As you look down from heaven above,
just know that you have all of our love.

So many memories we share with you.
You were a good man, the one we knew.
Mostly we remember you were patient and kind.
Anything us kids did you did not seem to mind.
You took us camping and travelling a lot.
Always somewhere we could swim because it was so hot.
When you were not well there was no other way,
for special care they moved you far away.
Today may we seek comfort,
knowing you have come home to stay.
I will never forget the smile on your face,
when you met your great grand-daughter Grace.
You instantly placed her on your knee.
What a cherished sight that was to see.
Then I remembered that was once me...
